East Central football moves on in playoffs; next up, Braham on Saturday

October 25, 2017

The East Central Eagles dominated the home field against the Blackduck Drakes on Tuesday night in the first section playoff game. The Eagles, seeded number four in section 7A, dominated both offensively and defensively and took a nice win against the number five seeded Drakes. The Eagles’ overall record is 5-4. .

"We took advantage of several Blackduck turnovers, jumped out to an early lead and never looked back,” said Coach Darrin Kvam. “The defense, which has played well all year, shut out the Drakes until the reserves entered in the 4th quarter. The offensive execution was much improved and we moved the ball well.” The final score was EC 54 Blackduck 8 .

The next opponent will be the number one seeded Braham Bombers, who are 8-0. Game time will be 2:00 p.m. on Saturday at Braham High School. The Eagles lost to Braham 26-7 earlier this season, but made too many turnovers in the second half, helping the Bombers get a win, according to Kvam.

“The Eagles will have to play mistake free football and will plan to knock off Braham and move on to the section finals against the Hinckley/Deer River winner at Esko on Thursday, November 2nd,” said Kvam.
